The California Wellness Foundation recognizes the work of exemplary leaders through award programs designed to acknowledge their work on important health issues. This issue of Reflections examines the Foundation’s Champions of Health Professions Diversity Award. Since debuting in 2003, the champions award has honored 15 outstanding individuals who have made significant strides toward developing a health care workforce that more closely reflects the ethnic and cultural profile of California’s population. The prizes – and the accompanying communications strategy – honor the work of the awardees and raise their profiles across the state.
