Endnotes
Honorees are selected through a process that mirrors one used for TCWF’s California Peace Prize. For a description of the process, please see Reflections On Leadership – The California Peace Prize, available online at www.tcwf.org.
In addition to the champions award, medals are presented to honorees of TCWF’s California Peace Prize and Public Policy Leadership Award, and the Sabbatical Program for leaders of health-sector nonprofit organizations.
In addition to general market media outreach, ie communications has taken the lead in strategizing the initial interviews with the honorees and production of video content. In addition to working with Asian-American media outlets, IW Group’s art department developed the template for the paid advertisements. LaGrant Communications works with African-American media, and Valencia Perez & Echeveste works with Latino-focused media. Mansfield+Associates is TCWF’s website design consultant.
The timeline for outreach is largely determined by the schedule and agenda of the state Legislature. Members are typically mired in negotiating the state’s budget in June, when the awards are presented. We wait until that work is completed and then mail the materials to the members’ Capitol or district offices, depending on whether they remain in session.
